When is the last time you sat down and savored a well-made cup of coffee? Really think about it. I don’t mean running into Starbucks for a mocha-frappe-whatever or filling up your favorite travel mug on your way out of the house with Folger’s “insta-crap(tm).” While we lack the national pride in our Java that countries like Turkey celebrate on a daily basis.
Tucked into a lesser known part of Vallejo is Moschetti coffee roasters, a wholesale roaster and distributor that opens to the public for tasting each Saturday morning. What originally started out as a simple coffee tasting and sale turned into a community event. The roaster’s courtyard, filled with live music, the aroma of brewing beans, local vendors and lively conversation can easily become a weekly tradition.
Fabrice, the man in charge, not only sets samples of his fine brew out for you but mans a full service hot espresso bar as well. Mocha; Espresso; you name it and it’s yours, in a convenient to-go cup.
If youlove the deep, smokey almost chocolatey taste of Moschetti’s organic french roast (a personal favorite) but can neither wait a whole week nor purchase in bulk from the wholesaler, Moschetti has made whole and ground beans available for sale in half-pound increments during the tastings.
Come on down, sip the coffee, eat the food, listen to the tunes and just enjoy it for once.
